This summer, now through August, visit the Phoenix Zoo at Papago Park (Galvin Parkway, south of McDowell Road in Phoenix) on Tuesdays for a hot deal. Everyone pays the Child Admission price of $10 — a 50 percent discount off regular season Adult Admission. There is no charge for children ages 2 and under.
Aside from animal encounters with monkeys, giraffes, lions, camels and goats, to name a few of the 1,400 or so animals on site, families can take kids on pedal boats and to ride the safari train or carousel. Additional charges apply for these activities. You won’t be able to see the stingrays, however, as the bay is closed for renovations until this fall.
For enrichment, parents can download activity sheets for kids to learn more about the animals or careers at the zoo and more, either before or after the trip. Food, drink and souvenirs can be purchased on property. But don’t forget to bring water and wear your hats and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun and heat.
Purchase your $10 Tuesday tickets online or at the zoo’s box office.
Summer hours: 7 a.m. -2 p.m., daily.
