Science, technology, engineering, and math are all around us, and they’re fascinating. Look at the device you’re reading this on, and thank STEM.
The AZ SciTech Festival is Arizona’s annual statewide celebration of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The festival includes events like air fairs, maker fairs, and hands-on sustainability days. There are even opportunities to get behind the scenes in the labs at Arizona State University (#1 in Innovation). There is something to appeal to kids, adults, educators, scientists, artists, and you.
Here are many of the FREE events, and there are many more events (some with a cost) on their website.
Buckeye Air Fair
All FREE! Indulge your interest in aviation and come see vintage and military aircraft, with a 2-hour airshow at noon each day. While you’re there, enjoy the live entertainment, too. More info here.

I Love Science Day
Unleash your inner scientist with hands-on crafts and demos, plus find out more from representatives from different careers in STEM. They also have ideas for science fair projects, which can be a challenge for parents and kids, alike. Find out more, here.
This event is not free. Regular museum admission fees apply: $12/adults, $8/students 13+ with ID, $7/children 3-12, and $10/seniors 65+.

Chandler Science Spectacular
Chandler uses ‘sneaky science’ by entertaining the whole family while explaining how science is important to daily life. Check out interactive demonstrations by Chandler’s technology companies along with the next generation of science from ASU, UofA and more, FREE. More information is available here.

Science Is Fun Saturday
FREE hands-on and minds-on science fun for all ages. Bring the whole family. Science is Fun has long brought the excitement of scientific discovery to K-12 classrooms via fast-paced, interactive science explorations. You can find out more here.

Glendale Science of Chocolate (Canceled) at Glendale Chocolate Affaire
Everyone loves chocolate. Even scientists and engineers. Unfortunately, they canceled the Glendale Science of Chocolate, but there are also a lot of other fun things going on at the 24th Annual Glendale Chocolate Affaire, like tours of Cerreta Candy Company (FREE shuttle from the event), a chocolate pizza-making booth, and an opportunity to paint a banner with desert plants, plus live music throughout the day.

ASU Open Door Downtown Phoenix
The FREE ASU Open Door @ Downtown Phoenix offers interactive activities, tours and a behind the scenes look into what powers a world class university. Tour the Cronkite School’s state-of-the-art media complex. Check out the College of Health Solutions nutrition kitchen, or investigate cadavers. Then, create your own kid-friendly comic strip and get a glimpse of the new Beus Center for Law and Society. Whether your dream is to work in health, be a news reporter or be a future public service leader – ASU Open Door @ Downtown Phoenix is pure family fun.

6th Annual Southwest Maker Fest
